My Deposition Set-Up

I arrive at your deposition in business dress. All of my gear is packed in a rolling Gator Box so it doesn't take as long to set up and break down at the end of the deposition.  It also makes it more convenient in a doctor's office. All devices form a single chain, with audio and video monitored at the end of the chain. You never have to worry about receiving a recording with missing audio or video.

Redundacy is my mantra. I shoot tapeless, onto SD memory cards and can also record onto a DVD in real-time. I can send you the SD cards after the depo or a DVD master. I also offer the court reporter a digital audio file at the end of the deposition and a set of earphones to monitor audio as the deposition progresses.

I shoot with Sony's state-of-the art HXR-NX100 camera. I can shoot in HD or down-sample to SD, the format still preferred in most courtrooms. You can see the quality of the video in this Sony video.

Throughout the deposition, I monitor the audio feed with headphones to insure that the record is fully audible. If the laywer drops his lavalier,  I am the first to rectify that every question and answer is clear and intelligible, trying to use tact and discretion. I adjust audio levels as needed throughout the depo, with a mixer and I use EQ controls on each mic channel . I carry extra high-end Sony mics and six XLR inputs and a conference mic so I can mic a telephone or extra attendees easily.

As a convenience for the court reporter, I record audio on a digital recorder in digital MP3/WAV format, available at the conclusion of the deposition transferable over USB to the reporterer's PC. .

I carry an extensive set of backup equipment, in case of field failures. This includes another pro-grade 3CCD camcorder.  My equipment remains pre-wired on my cart, reducing setup time.
